530 Days
From March 2010-September 2011, we traveled. Now, we have resettled in the San Francisco Bay Area and have stopped our travel clock at 530 days: 6 hours: 30 minutes.
We are a 30-something married couple who decided to leave behind our home, careers and comfortable Silicon Valley lifestyle to try a new course. Join us as we travel the world to learn about other cultures, lifestyles and ways to generate income beyond the traditional 9-5.
Incredible photos. What is your camera, dear Kate? New Zealand is one of the world's (relatively) uncharted and untouched territories. I love it there too!

Thanks, Farnoosh! My primary camera kit is a Canon 5D with three lenses: 70-200mm, 50mm and 17-40mm. Unless I want to do serious work, however, I carry around a little Canon S90 or my iPhone, which also produce good results. I think good photography is primarily about knowing what your camera can do and making the choices to get what you want instead of allowing the camera to make decisions for you.

Beautiful photos and kind of desolate looking.

Hi Cassandra, It is a desolate, wind-whipped place. The Tasman Sea is vicious: We saw 8-10 lines of breakers coming at us while standing on shore. Just one more element of New Zealand’s diverse beauty.
