Kitschy Contest winner

We have finished reviewing the wonderful entries for our kitschy contest.  Again, many thanks to all who entered!  It was a hotly contested decision, but we’re ready to announce that:

Cassandra Rae takes the grand prize, one year of kitsch (golf clap, golf clap)

Her winning entry:

“In every major location, ask a random stranger if you can take their picture & interview them. Pick a topic and/or major question of your choice. If I were doing it, I would ask them: Do humans have souls? or something like that. But, I think it would be fun if the two of you picked a question or topic that you are curious about. I would *LOVE* to read these stories on your blog. Oh…I guess you could also interview them using video. Either way. I don’t care. I’d just be curious to hear your question and all the answers.

Great idea.  Thanks, Cassandra!  You might be interested to know that she predicted her win on her blog a couple of weeks ago.  How’s that for manifesting desires?

Although Cassandra’s entry stretches us out of our comfort zones, we’re up for the task and are very interested to hear the answers to our question.  To find out what it is, stay tuned for the first installment.

Big thanks also to Peggy Watson whose suggestion, “How about cooking a traditional meal in each place you visit. Post photos of your achievements and provide recipes for us to try at home,” is first runner-up.  Peggy, Brian considered naming you a co-winner, but he’s feeling a little commitment phobic at the moment (and we all know that my culinary skills aren’t up to your challenge).  I’m sure he’ll undertake some cooking projects as our travels continue, and I’ll stand ready for documentation and clean up.  ;-)

And more thanks to Mary Pratt, whose scavenger hunt idea still intrigues us and might be a possibility some day.

Congratulations, ladies, and thank you,

Woohoo! I knew I would win :~) I can't wait to read about your first interview.
